With this fantastic, pedagogical course, you will get new ideas for teaching natural sciences. It does not matter are you primary teacher or subject teacher or what kind of school are you working!

Theme: Science education in participant countries, modern technology and its benefits in science teaching. Learning new ways to make science curriculum alive!

Course fee: 450 €, (2018,2019,2020 480 €) . Course fee does not include meals and accomodation. Course fee must be paid four weeks before the course to bank account or with later instructions.

dreamstime_m_28178202.jpgAccomodation in 2018: We have a group room rates for eduKarjala courses with Sokos hotel Kimmel. In May 2017 single room was 82€/night/room, double room was 97€/night/room and room for three was 122€/night/room. 2018 room rates we get in November 2017.

All room rates include breakfast, sauna, wifi and swimming pool. You are also free to use other hotels.

It may be possible to obtain a European Union Erasmus+ (formerly Comenius) grant (K1, learning mobillity of individuals) to cover course fee, travelling and accomodation costs! Next closing date for Erasmus+ applications is 2nd February 2018 (education starting earliest in June 2018), and teachers will need the application of their Headteacher in doing this. More information is available from our website and in your national agency. So, you can book your place before making application to Erasmus+ office and when you get decision let us now if you are really coming.

Course aims are: Participants will learn new pedagogical ways to use modern equipment in science lessons. They also will get new ideas how to motivate modern pupils and students with games, modern technology and equipment.

Participants learn also how to build an interesting workshop about science used in big event. They also learn English language terminology used in science lessons. Participants will also get new contacts around the Europe and learn also pedagogical things from each others.

Schedule of five days: (can change)

1st day

15.00 Let's get together Europe! Getting to know each others, course providers and city of Joensuu and Finland. Finnish education system. Participant presentations of their own school systems and science teaching curriculum.

2nd day

School visit(if possible), building a workshop to SciFest 2017/2018 event.

3rd day

Take part in SciFest event in Joensuu arena. Group has its own workshop to run. Visit to university of Eastern Finland, center of natural sciences. Visit to North Karelia museum.SciFest event continues with same theme. Visit to Joensuu yhteiskoulu upper secondary school. Meeting science teachers and visiting lessons.

4th day

SciFest continues. Afternoon Visit to KOLI mountains and natural park.

Last night with Finnish cultural evening; sauna, music, barbeque and lake Saimaa.

5th day (9.00-13.00)

Scifest with summer, course certificates and feedback session.
