With this fantastic, pedagogical course, you will get new ideas for teaching sciences. It does not matter are you primary teacher or subject teacher or what kind of school are you working!

Theme: Science education in participant countries, modern technology and its benefits in science teaching. Learning new ways to make science curriculum alive!

Course fee: 2020, 2021 (final registrations made latest in March 2021) = 420 €/participant. Course fee does not include meals and accomodation. Course fee must be paid four weeks before the course to bank account or with later instructions.


Accomodation room rates in August 2019, Joensuu, in our cooperation hotel, Sokos hotel Kimmel were:
Economy room rates: single room 88€/night, double room 98€/night and double room with extra bed 123€/night.
Standard room rates: single room 103€/night, double room 113€/night and double room with extra bed 138€/night.

Room rates will be about the same in 2020. All room rates include breakfast, free wifi and sauna with swimming pool. Sokos hotel Kimmel locates next to railway station and main bus station. Also busses from Joensuu airport (JOE) will stop near this hotel.

When you make the final registration, we will give you instructions, how to get eduKarjala agreement room rate.

You are also free to use other hotels, airbnb etc. 2020 room rates we will get latest in December 2019.

It may be possible to obtain a European Union Erasmus+ grant (K1, learning mobillity of individuals) to cover course fee, travelling and accomodation costs!

Next closing date for Erasmus+ applications is in February 2020. (education starting earliest in June 2020), and teachers will need the application of their Headteacher in doing this.

Course aims are: Participants will learn new pedagogical ways to use modern equipment in science lessons. They also will get new ideas how to motivate modern pupils and students with games, modern technology and equipment.

Participants learn also how to build an interesting workshop about science used in big event. They also learn English language terminology used in science lessons. Participants will also get new contacts around the Europe and learn also pedagogical things from each others.

Schedule of five days: (can change)

1st day 15.00 Let's get together Europe! Getting to know each others, course providers and city of Joensuu and Finland. Finnish education system. Participant presentations of their own school systems and science teaching curriculum.

2nd day School visit day

3rd day Making science with schools (spring 2019)/scifest event workshop

4th day Science with nature - Learning in Koli natural park

5th day (9.00-13.00) Last lessons, course certificates and feedback session.
