AIMS and outcomes of the course:
This course is about school management. Focus is to compare school administration in Europe but also give some hints how to be a good school head/ part of administrative staff. Pedagogical, economical and human resource management, how to use these three parts of management together. You will get the ideas how to be a better school head. You will also learn new professional terms in English and have a possibility to wide your network with European collegues.

Place: -Joensuu, Finland (can be reached from Helsinki by airplane, train or by buss).

Course fee (single participant) 2018, 2019, 2020: 480 €/five days. Course fee can be paid to bank no later than 4 weeks before the start of the cource or with later instructions. You do not have to pay anything before having positive Erasmus+ funding and when you know that you are really coming. Course fee includes education, trips and visits, transportations during course week, coffee/tea breaks, certificates and one cultural evening with dinner. Course fee does not include meals or accomodation.
It may be possible to obtain a European Union Erasmus+ (formerly Comenius) grant (K1, learning mobillity of individuals) to cover course fee, travelling and accomodation costs! The next closing date for Erasmus+ KA1 applications is 1st February 2018 (education starting earliest in June 2018), and teachers will need the application of their headteacher in doing this. More information is available from your national agency and in our website.

Programme of the course week:
1st DAY 10:00-18:00 Ice breaking, Finnish education system and school leadership system, course schedule. Participant presentations.
2nd DAY 9:30-17:30 How to handle different generations in worklife. LEAN in education and in school administration. How to handle difficult situations with staff, families and pupils/students. Developing conversations.
3RD DAY 9:30-17.30 Finnish modern leadership. Leadership theses.Staff management. Wellness and taking care fo yourself.
4TH DAY 10:00-15:30, 18:15-21:30 Cultural trip. In the evening barbeque dinner with lake Saimaa and possibility to have Finnish sauna and (ice)swimming in lake, with music and nice landscape (in Teneriffe 2020 it is something else).
5TH DAY 09:00-13:00 Quality assurance in school. Conclusions of the course week, group conversation, certificates. Course is over about afternoon 1 o´clock PM.
