This course is in Finland for teachers, principals and other experts who really like to get something new and modern ideas inside or outside classroom and motive the pupils better.

Give your pupils positive experiences with modern technology etc. computers, laptops, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, mobile phones, drones, 360 cameras, gps based outdoor games and lot of other things! Make your classroom also flipping!

Outcomes of training week:

During the course week participants will learn how to activate pupils or students every kind of school subjects with games and gaming. Includes also flipped learning pedagogy

Participants can also develope their professional English skills and learn and get ideas from each others. They will also get new collegues from all over the Europe and they can start to think example new projects.

Target group: kindergarten, primary or every kind of secondary teachers, like language teachers, science teachers, history teachers, arts teachers etc., headteachers/principals, teacher-trainers, councilors/elected members, special teachers, vocational teachers, experts, politicians or other stake holders

Themes of education week:

- Gaming and gamification - How we understand it? How to motivate new generations to study by gaming?

-Flipped learning

- Sharing curricula and gaming pedagogy of participants

- Finnish education system and curriculum

- Curriculum development and gaming as a part of it

- Outdoor pedagogy

- Gaming technology (iPads, mobile phones, gps softwares etc.), virtual reality, artificial intelligence and 3D

Course fee: 480€/participant. Discount 30 €/participant if your group is 5 participants or more. Course fee does not include meals or accomodation. Course fee must be paid four weeks before course start to bank account or with later instructions.

Certificates: Course certificate, Europass mobility document

Accomodation in July 2019 in our cooperation hotel, Sokos hotel Kimmel: (room rates include breakfast, free wifi and sauna with swimming pool in the evening. Sokos hotel Kimmel locates opposite to railway and bus stations. Also airport bus stop is near this hotel. You will get instructions how to make room reservations in final registration form.

Economy room: Single room 75€/night, Double room 85€/night and double room with extra bed 110€/night.

Standard room: Single room 90€/night, Double room 100€/night and double room with extra bed 125€/night.

Of course you are also free to use other hotels or airbnb.

City of Joensuu locates 450 km North-East from Helsinki. You can reach Joensuu every day by airplane (JOE), train or by bus from Helsinki.

It may be possible to obtain a European Union Erasmus+ (formerly Comenius) grant (K1, learning mobillity of individuals) to cover course fee, travelling and accomodation costs! Next closing date for Erasmus+ applications is 5th February 2019 (education starting earliest June 2019), and teachers will need the application of their Headteacher in doing this. More information is available from our website and in your national agency. So, you can pre-book your place before making application to Erasmus+ office and when you get decision let us now if you are really coming.

Schedule of five days:

DAY 1 10:00-18:00: Welcome to Finland. Agenda of course week. Finnish education system, City of of Joensuu. Ice breakers, participant presentations. Playing "Mölkky", Finnish traditional game.

DAY 2 09.30-17:00: Modern technology in education. Gaming. Gaming workshops and lectures about differrent themes with Finnish teachers. 19:00 Evening with lake Saimaa, trying Finnish outdoor activities. Barbeque and sauna.

DAY 3: 09:30-17:00 Gamification and useful softwares inside or outside classrooms. Lectures and workshops.

DAY 4: 9:00-16:00 Outdoor learning at KOLI national park. How schools can use their natural heretage as pedagogical material. Small hike with outdoor gaming and presentation of KOLI. Last evening together

DAY 5: 10:00-13:00 Conclusions of the course, workshop, certificates and farewell.
